KDP royalty reports break down as Kindle+ launches
Authors report page reads disappearing and royalty estimates dropping by as much as 40% to 50% since October 21

Authors began reporting problems with their KDP dashboards starting October 21, according to the outlet, with page reads disappearing, royalty estimates dropping by as much as 40% to 50%, and even historical reports changing. Discussions in the KDP Community and on Reddit described authors losing tens of thousands of reported pages, the outlet reported.
KDP changed how it displays reading and listening activity around the same time, separating Kindle+ pages read and listened while moving Audible Plus royalties into the Audible column of the Prior Months' Royalties report. Some authors found their finalized statements still reflected original earnings, the outlet reported, while others got conflicting responses from KDP Support, with some reps acknowledging technical issues and others insisting nothing was wrong.
The outlet said it contacted the KDP team on Monday, October 26, requesting clarification, and had not received a response. The outlet advised authors experiencing these issues to compare their Royalties Estimator with their Prior Months' Royalties and Payments reports, document discrepancies with screenshots, and submit a support ticket.
Here's the problem with a black-box royalty system: when it breaks, you have no way to prove what you're owed. Starting October 21, authors watched page reads vanish and estimates fall by as much as 40-50%, and KDP support is giving some people "nothing's wrong" while telling others "yes, it's a bug." That's not a glitch you wait out quietly. Screenshot everything now, because a support ticket without evidence is just a complaint.
