Baker & Taylor creditors to vote on liquidation with about $1.8 million left
The company owes more than $106 million but has only about $1.8 million in cash and accounts to distribute, per a New Jersey bankruptcy filing.

Creditors will soon vote on Baker & Taylor's liquidation plans after the company shut down last year and filed for bankruptcy in March, Publishers Marketplace reported. According to a filing in New Jersey bankruptcy court, the company has about $1.8 million in cash and various accounts to distribute against debts of over $106 million.
Publishers Marketplace noted that the scale of the shortfall was suggested when the company first filed for bankruptcy.
A dollar in assets against $106 million in debts isn't a liquidation plan, it's a math problem with no good answer. If you're one of the creditors voting on this, go in knowing exactly what's in the pot before you vote on how it gets split. There's no scenario buried in these numbers where everyone gets made whole — so the real question is just how thin the slices are.
