Paul W.S. Anderson, the director behind six Resident Evil films, is set to direct film adaptations of Nether Station and Nether Vortex, sci-fi horror novels by bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson, Deadline reported.

The novels follow Cammie Skoura, described as a neurodivergent young scientist aboard a deep-space expedition that uncovers ancient ruins and long-dead alien civilizations leading toward what the outlet called a mind-shattering discovery. Deadline reported that Cammie is described as a character in the vein of Beth Harmon, Anya Taylor-Joy's chess prodigy from The Queen's Gambit.

The outlet reported that the story fuses space exploration with the cosmic dread that Weird Tales has published since its founding in 1923.

Coral’s read

This is good news for Kevin J. Anderson, and worth noticing for the rest of you too. A bestselling author with a long backlist just landed two book-to-film deals with a director who's proven he can carry a franchise. That's the real lesson here: durable series with a strong central character keep finding buyers years after the books come out.
