Wendy Webb's novels become one expanding TV world
Impossible Dream and Wall to Wall are developing The Invited, a series that weaves Webb's books into one haunted universe starting with The End of Temperance Dare

Impossible Dream Entertainment, the production company behind Get Out and BlacKkKlansman, is teaming with the UK's Wall to Wall to develop and exec produce The Invited, a supernatural mystery thriller series inspired by the novels of bestselling author Wendy Webb, Deadline reported.
The series has no single source novel; there is no Webb book called The Invited. Instead, according to Deadline, it will weave her collective works into one interconnected haunted world set in the fictional, historic lakeside town of Wharton, expanding season after season. Season 1 will adapt Webb's book The End of Temperance Dare, with further adaptation details kept under wraps. Helen Black and Jeff Howard are scripting.
This one's worth watching because of the shape of the deal, not just the headline. Instead of one book becoming one miniseries, Webb's whole catalogue is being treated as a single world that can keep expanding season after season. Helen Black and Jeff Howard are scripting it, and Season 1 adapts The End of Temperance Dare specifically.
