Barrett Law Group files second Mississippi suit against OpenAI
Boone Newsmedia v. Microsoft follows Emmerich Newspapers v. Microsoft, now before Judge Wingate in the same district

Newspaper Plaintiffs have filed a second copyright lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft in the Southern District of Mississippi, according to ChatGPT Is Eating the World. The new case, Boone Newsmedia v. Microsoft, was brought by the same plaintiffs' firms as the first Mississippi suit, led by Barrett Law Group.
The first case, Emmerich Newspapers v. Microsoft, is now before Judge Wingate, the outlet reported.
The outlet's own unofficial count puts the total number of copyright suits now facing OpenAI at 30.
Same firm, same district, same two defendants — Barrett Law Group just filed its second copyright suit against OpenAI and Microsoft in the Southern District of Mississippi. That's two data points, not a trend line, so I won't oversell it. But if you're a newsroom or a freelance journalist sitting on unlicensed-use claims, this is your proof that a small firm can get a second case into the same courthouse without much fuss.
