Wattpad announced on October 29, 2026 that it is launching the November Writeathon, an on-platform 50,000-word challenge beginning November 1 designed to take stories from outlines to polished drafts, according to Wattpad Newsroom. The platform is also opening its Toronto headquarters every Friday in November, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM EST, for a drop-in Writing Club aimed at local authors.

The Writeathon will include interactive sprints, exclusive digital story stickers, and weekly seminars hosted by Wattpad content experts, Wattpad Newsroom reported. Writers who reach the 50,000-word milestone earn a "Finisher" sticker for their profile and access to a masterclass guide intended to help turn first drafts into publish-ready webnovels.

The Toronto Writing Club will offer quiet spaces for sprints, 1:1 coaching with Wattpad's content experts, exclusive product previews, and light refreshments, according to Wattpad Newsroom. Writers can opt into the digital challenge starting November 1 via the official @justwriteit profile, and Toronto-area writers can RSVP starting today for sessions on November 6, 13, 20, and 27.

Coral’s read

A 50,000-word challenge is a real deadline, not a vibe — that's a novel's worth of words in a month, and the "Finisher" sticker plus the masterclass guide are the carrot for actually finishing. If you're nowhere near Toronto, the Writeathon is still open to you on-platform starting November 1 — don't let the HQ perk make you think this is Toronto-only. The local Friday sessions are a nice bonus if you're in the GTA, but the real prize for everyone else is the structure: sprints, weekly seminars, and a hard word count to chase.
