Authors groups launch AI ethics charter, writers push back fast
The Society of Authors and international partners unveiled the charter Wednesday, and the backlash was immediate online
Here's the problem with putting "ethical" next to "AI use" in a headline: you've made a promise the document now has to keep, and a lot of people are already saying it can't. I don't think the Society of Authors meant to pick a fight with the writers it represents. But that's what Wednesday looked like.
Why it matters to you: A charter meant to set shared ground rules for AI in publishing is instead splitting the authors and industry groups it was built to unite.
