Spotify to expand audiobooks to 180-plus markets by year end
The announcement came at the Frankfurt Book Fair, and outlets differ on the baseline and reach figures attached to it

This is the kind of announcement I want you to read twice before you get excited. The headline fact is solid: audiobooks going from a handful of markets to more than 180 by the end of 2026. But the supporting numbers are a mess right now, one outlet says 750 million users, another says the expansion is from 22 markets, another cites 120-plus languages, and they don't all agree on what they're even counting. I'm not going to smooth that over for you. Know the real number before you plan around it.
Why it matters to you: If your audiobook is on Spotify, its potential market just got a lot bigger, but the exact scale of that is still being reported inconsistently across outlets.
This story ran in the Coral Wire edition of Thu, Oct 8 2026, when the Coral Index stood at 38/100 (Headwinds).
