Here's a headwind nobody warned you about: scam books are riding in on your book's coattails, popping up in the days right after your launch, close enough in title or cover to skim off confused buyers. It's a headwind for the whole market because it erodes trust in search results and "customers also bought" shelves — the very places your real readers go looking for you. I don't have the mechanics of how these copycats are built or listed, so I won't pretend to. What I do have is the pattern, and the pattern alone is reason enough to check your own listing this week.
